Get the industrial look with Smarts Aluspace
The industrial look and why it’s so popular
The industrial style is characterized by its iconic design of steel-framed windows and doors, marked by slim horizontal and vertical sightlines that form a grid pattern. This style was pioneered by Essex ironmonger Francis Henry Crittall in 1884, during the Industrial Revolution, and the windows were first produced in the UK in 1889.
By the early 20th century, these windows and French doors gained popularity due to their sleek design, slim steel frames and geometric shapes of the Art Deco style
Today, Crittall® windows and doors remain a favourite among homeowners, architects, and designers. The contemporary frames have seen a resurgence in popularity for their industrial aesthetic. However, the high cost of original steel-framed windows can be prohibitive, but there is now a more affordable alternative that provides a similar look at a lower price.
Our Smarts Aluspace aluminium system achieves a similar look of their steel counterparts, whilst only costing a fraction of the price. Aluspace is available in single doors, French doors, sliding doors and fixed screens. All options boast sleek, slim lines that help create a light and open interior atmosphere. The Smarts AluSpace screen can be tailored to divide or define residential and commercial spaces of any shape or size, all while offering an effective acoustic barrier.
Our steel-look frames require minimal maintenance, come with a 10 year warranty on all parts and are available in over 200 colours and a variety of paint finishes. Pop into our factory showroom in East Kilbride and see our manufacturing process and quality for yourself!
